Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in the year 1992, and started an education in marine science at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard got her start in the industry of commercial seafood in the year 1999. In that year she was employed in Murat Aritan's halibut 65 feet boat. It was later transformed into a fishing tender. Bossard and Aritan are married now and have joined forces to stake their claim to their business. The two are proponents conservation of sustainable, renewable seafood resources. Otolith is a direct wholesale seafood distributor founded by a woman in Philadelphia in 2007, by a woman who is now the mother of two young children: Bella age 3 and Andre aged 1. The couple is separated by 5 months and she is able to focus on her financial goals and environmental concerns. As of July 2016 Bossard along with her daughter Isabella aged 12 and Andre age 10 Andre age 10 are back in Southeast Alaska annually each summer for deckhand work throughout the summer wild salmon harvest. With a small 42 troller, the Bossards are able to catch salmon by hooks. They work in conjunction with Aritan in a local processing facility for a period of two weeks.
